Do you have questions about windows? Here are the answers to the most common ones.
How do windows help save energy at home?
In practice, high thermal insulation means energy savings, which means lower heating and cooling bills. Windows are the part of the house most in contact with the outside, so they are where most heat is lost. With the right window, though, the surface temperature stays as close as possible to the temperature indoors, which avoids uncomfortable temperature swings and cuts bills significantly.
How do you get good air circulation with highly insulated windows?
Modern building methods and the perfect seal of advanced windows have made the building envelope practically airtight, at the expense of natural ventilation. The main cause of indoor pollution is the lack of air circulation, which lets harmful substances build up in rooms. It is therefore advisable to fit a mechanical ventilation system that provides continuous, controlled air change in every room, protecting health without hurting the energy efficiency of the building. To meet this need, Schüco created Schüco VentoTherm, a highly efficient solution built into the windows for decentralised ventilation with heat recovery.
What is low-emissivity glass?
Low-emissivity glass has a metal-oxide coating on its inner face, which improves thermal insulation without reducing brightness. The coating reflects heat back into the room while letting sunlight and its warmth enter freely, a real advantage in particularly cold climates.
What is sound-insulating glass?
Exposure to noise can be very annoying for living comfort, especially in busy areas. Sound-insulating glass plays a key acoustic role: thanks to special soundproofing films, it reduces outside noise without affecting the light that passes through.
Why do we recommend aluminium windows?
High resistance to air, water, corrosion and weather makes aluminium the ideal material for windows, doors and façades. Besides good energy performance, aluminium is strong and hard-wearing, and allows large glazed openings and completely original shapes. It is easy to work and comes in endless colours, so it puts no limit on design freedom and gives extremely versatile results.
Can windows get damaged over time?
Aluminium is an extremely durable material. Aluminium windows also get a special surface treatment, which keeps their appearance, performance and function in good condition for a long time and reduces the need for maintenance.
